Brechin

ELEMENTARY School

Our School

Welcome to Brechin Elementary

Brechin Elementary is one of the oldest elementary schools in beautiful Nanaimo BC. Our current building was completed in 1993. The school was uniquely designed for learning, featuring a full-sized gymnasium, multipurpose room and kitchen; library and computer lab on one side, and 10 classrooms on the other.

Brechin is a K-7 school with an average population of 180 students. Our school community is committed to creating a safe and caring learning environment where we can all belong, thrive, and grow. Each week, our intermediate students provide announcements with news and events for our school community, as well as many leadership opportunities that make our school a better place.

At recess, students play in supervised spaces on our playgrounds, sports field, and black-top areas. We offer many extracurricular opportunities such as cross country running, football, volleyball, and basketball for our students. Additionally, Brechin is proud to host Culture Night, where we celebrate Indigenous culture on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw, Snaw-naw-as, and Stz’uminus peoples where we are grateful to live, work, and play.

We believe learning should be joyful. Our amazing staff bring fun and laughter into their classrooms each day. Brechin Elementary is a great place to learn and grow!
